A Natural Supplement for Healthy Liver Detoxification.

Core Support is our natural supplement designed for healthy detoxification. Core Support was created as part of The Core Restore BT Detoxification Kit. Core Support assists phase II detoxification by providing protein, fiber, and nutrients to help eliminate toxins during a 7-28 day detoxification program. Core Support is a product that is a significant improvement on similar products that have been a mainstay in detoxification protocols for more than a decade.

The Micronutrient Ingredients in Our Natural Detoxification Supplement:

The ingredients included in Core Support were chosen because they support one of the six phase II detoxification pathways. N-Acetyl Cysteine along with glycine and taurine, are well known amino acids for their role in supporting liver detoxification. Antioxidants like lipoic acid, green tea, ellagic acid, and the vegetable antioxidant blend (with an ORAC value of 2,500 per serving) provide a synergistic approach to liver support and detoxification. Our Natural Detoxification Supplement also contains hypo-allergenic, whole grain, brown rice protein that deliver 15 grams of protein per serving.

Detoxification, What Exactly are Toxins and Where Do They Come From?

A toxin is a substance that causes harmful effects to our body. Normally, the immune system, liver and kidneys work together to remove toxins at the same rate as they are encountered. When toxin levels are in excess of our body's capacity to remove them, toxins build up and are stored until they are removed. We can have toxins stored in our bodies for years without experiencing any negative symptoms, but once the burden of toxins becomes too high, we start to feel ill. We tend to think about toxins coming from environmental sources such as exhaust fumes, solvents and inhalants, but it is important to consider the other sources we are exposed to on a daily basis. These include toxins from our lifestyle, toxins from "lawn care" and household pesticides, toxins created within our bodies (internal toxins) as well as toxins created from our emotions (stress).

Environmental Toxins Affecting Our Health, the Importance of Detoxification

We are exposed to more pollution today than any other period in history. During the past 100 years, approximately 75,000 new chemicals have been released into our environment. Although very few long-term safety studies have been done on these chemicals, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) wants us to believe they are safe. Industrial and technological advancements have resulted in many new and stronger chemicals, air and water pollution, pesticides, herbicides and synthetic fertilizers. These are only a few examples of what we are exposed to on a daily basis. The human body was not designed to deal with the constant onslaught of these pollutants. By lowering the amount of exposure to these environmental toxins and taking the necessary steps to cleanse out (detoxify) those that have accumulated in your body, you can feel healthier and reduce your risk of illness. This can help your body function at optimally healthy levels.

Lifestyle Toxins Affecting Our Health, the Importance of Detoxification

Many of us have unhealthy lifestyle habits which introduce significant toxins into our bodies. Today, we use more prescription drugs, apply more toxic pesticides and herbicides onto our lawns, eat more sugar and highly processed foods and turn to addictive substances such as caffeine, alcohol and tobacco to help us deal with the daily stresses of life. The majority of diet foods sold in the market today have little, if any, nutritional value because of over-processing and the addition of artificial ingredients used to make the food "appear" more attractive and taste fresher. The ingredients include artificial food additives, artificial colors, artificial flavors and preservatives.

Certain types of meats that we consume contain hormones (used to fatten-up cattle and poultry) as well as antibiotics, both of which can cause hormonal disruption in our bodies. To cope with the increasing levels of daily stresses, some of us turn to addictive substances such as caffeine and other stimulants, sedatives, alcohol and tobacco, all of which have to be filtered out of the body through the liver and kidneys. In today's fast-paced society, we also do not receive the adequate amount of sleep and exercise needed to stay health. Both of these lifestyle factors play a critical role in relieving stress and eliminating harmful toxins from our body.

Internal Toxins Affecting Our Health, the Importance of Detoxification

In addition to toxins from our environment and lifestyle choices, there are different types of toxins that are produced within our body. The three main categories of toxins created within our bodies are as follow:

1.)Metabolic Reactions- Countless metabolic reactions are occurring in our body at every moment of every day. These reactions occur at the molecular level and are necessary at helping us break down proteins, fats and sugars into energy during digestive and metabolic processes. Each of these reactions create toxic waste products (such as carbon dioxide and ammonia) that must be eliminated. Another important example are hormones such as estrogen and androgen, which must be broken down and excreted by the liver after they are used. If these hormones are not properly broken down and excreted, then hormonal imbalances can occur. Hormonal imbalances can cause symptoms such as skin disorder, weight gain and blood sugar imbalance. In addition, toxic build-up can occur when elimination mechanisms are inadequate due to poor nutrient intake or improper absorption of key detoxification nutrients. In most cases, it is a combination of excess toxin formation and poor toxin detoxification that leads to toxic build-up.

2.)Intestinal Microbes- The gastrointestinal tract is filled with an array of bacteria and yeast. Often called gut flora, good bacteria or intestinal microbes, these bacteria and yeast are highly beneficial. The intestinal micro flora assists in the digestion of some vitamins and plays an important role in the body's immune response. Although most of these microbes are beneficial, overgrowth of certain strains of bad bacteria and yeast can be harmful to our health. These harmful flora constantly absorb nutrients and produce waste that can be absorbed into our body's blood circulation. Long-term production of these toxins can lead to inflammation, a weakened immune system and a slower metabolic rate.

It usually takes about 12 to 20 hours for the food we eat to be digested and eliminated from our body, but when we have digestive health problems such as decreased enzymes to digest our food or slow peristaltic movement (rhythmic contraction of smooth muscles to move food through our GI tract), undigested food can remain in the large intestine for a prolonged period of time causing harmful bacteria and yeast to grow. This build-up produces high levels of toxic compounds that are absorbed into the body's blood circulation which require detoxification and elimination from the body to maintain health and function. That is the reason why a dynamic and effective detoxification supplement such as our Core Restore Powder is of significant importance for a the health of our body.

3.)Emotional Toxins- Research has shown that there is a connection between our emotions and well-being. When experiencing a traumatic or stressful event, it is common for us to react with fear, anger, grief, resentment, sorrow and other related emotions. Repeated cycles of these types of emotional stresses have a direct effect on the nervous and hormonal systems, which can indirectly affect our body?s ability to detoxify. Rather than accepting these emotions as normal or natural, we might suppress them and not deal with them directly. Ignoring or suppressing negative emotions prolongs their damaging effects on the health of our bodies. It is important to learn to release suppressed thoughts, feelings and emotions.

Detoxification and Its Connection to Digestive Health

By definition, detoxification is "the removal of a toxic substance or substances from the body" or simply put, "a cleansing of the body". In scientific terms detoxification is referred to as biotransformation. The primary organ involved in detoxification is our liver. The liver takes in "unfiltered" blood from the entire body, which contains both harmful toxins as well as beneficial nutrients and acts as a "clean up crew" to filter through toxins from the gastrointestinal tract. If the liver is able to keep up with the pace of toxins being formed, the toxins will be filtered out fast enough to never reach the rest of the body. However, if the liver's function is impaired, a condition known as toxemia (toxins in the blood stream) can manifest itself. Toxemia occurs when the liver's ability of clearing toxins is compromised or if there is an excess of toxins pouring into the body. Problems in the health of the digestive system that can contribute to increasing levels of incoming toxins include but are not limited to:

Chronic diarrhea
Food allergies
Inflammatory bowel disease (such as Crohn's Disease or Ulcerative Colitis).
Malabsorption syndromes (such as Celiac disease)- a decrease ability of the digestive tract to digest and absorb nutrients from food.
Lack of digestive enzymes or stomach acid.

These problems occur because of damage caused to our digestive system by an overload of toxins, which interfere with digestion and the liver's ability to properly filter out these toxins. Toxins that are not filtered out will then enter our circulation and accumulate in various parts of our body, causing further damage over time. A proper detoxification program will help restore healthy digestive system function by removing harmful toxins from the body, promoting nutrient absorption from food and helping you feel more energized. This in turn may help to address the gastrointestinal symptoms you might currently be experiencing.

The Role of the Liver in Detoxification

The liver is an amazing organ. Besides filtering the blood, storing glucose for energy, breaking down steroid hormones and producing/secreting bile, our liver play a major role in detoxification. The health of the liver is a vital component for the overall health of your body. The liver is the main organ of detoxification. The health of every other system in our body impaired if our liver is not functioning and detoxifying properly. The majority of the toxins we are exposed to are fat soluble. They are attracted to the fatty portion of the cells throughout our body. That is why very few toxins are directly excreted in water based urine. Unfortunately, this attraction allows toxins to be easily transported into cells where they settle and exert their degenerative effects, compromising our health and impairing the quality of life. As toxins begin to accumulate in our systems, they negatively affect various organs (including the colon, liver, kidneys, heart, brain, lungs, skin and endocrine system). Disruption of the endocrine system can lead to hormonal imbalances. A good detoxification program should assist the liver in transforming harmful fat-soluble toxins into a water-soluble form so they can be easily eliminated from the body through the kidneys or colon. Our Core Support Powder along with the Core Restore BT Detoxification Program will not only help to accomplish this, but also:

Reduce incoming toxins into the body.
Boost the liver's ability to detoxify and eliminate incoming toxins.
Remove contaminants that are stored in body tissues.
Create an improved feeling of energy, vitality and optimal health.

Our liver eliminates toxic compounds through a two-step enzymatic process, also known as Phase I detoxification and Phase II detoxification (or biotransformation) pathways. Specific reactions occur in these two pathways that assist the breakdown and neutralization of unwanted toxic chemical compounds into harmless substances:

Phase I Detoxification (biotransformation)- This is usually the first defense against unwanted chemical compounds. A series of enzymes, called cytochrome P450, (composed of a group of 50 to 100 enzymes) use specific reactions and nutrients to chemically change harmful fat-soluble toxins into even more toxic substances called "intermediary metabolites". Since the intermediary metabolites are often more toxic than the original fat-soluble toxins, they have to go through Phase II detoxification in order to become less toxic. If intermediary metabolites are not further reduced into less harmful substances by Phase II enzymes, intermediary metabolites accumulate and can cause various illnesses such as allergies, frequent colds, flus, etc. A decreased activity of Phase II enzymes or an increased production of Phase I enzymes (which does not allow Phase II enzymes to catch-up with toxin overload) can prevent the detoxification from intermediary metabolites. Specific nutrients needed for Phase I detoxification are: B vitamins (vitamin B2, vitamin B3, vitamin B6, vitamin B12), folic acid supplement and various flavonoids including rutin and quercetin.

Phase II Detoxification (biotransformation)- During Phase II detoxification, the attachment (or conjugation) of specific molecules onto the intermediary metabolite occurs. This is where the liver cells convert the highly toxic intermediary metabolites into non-toxic, water soluble molecules called excretory derivatives. This process is accomplished through conjugation, or attachment, of specific molecules to the intermediary metabolite after passing through six Phase II detoxification pathways. Since excretory derivatives are water soluble, they can be eliminated through the urine, bile or stool.

The 6 Phase II Detoxification Pathways:

First Detoxification Pathway, Sulfation- This is the detoxification pathway where toxins attach with sulfur-containing compounds. This is the main detoxification pathway that neutralizes the stress hormone cortisol, as well as some commonly prescribed pharmaceuticals, food additives, chemicals produced by intestinal bacteria and environmental toxins. Sources of sulfur include the sulfur-bearing amino acids such as methionine and cysteine.

Second Detoxification Pathway, Glucuronidation- In this detoxification pathway, glucuronic acid combines with toxins. This in turn helps to detoxify certain medications (such as aspirin), preservatives, food additives (such as benzoates), reproductive and adrenal hormones. The detoxification pathway of glucuronidation requires magnesium and glucuronic acid to function properly.

Third Detoxification Pathway, Glutathione Conjugation- The attachment of glutathione to toxins assists in the detoxification and elimination of fat soluble toxins, especially heavy metals including mercury and lead. Glutathione is a very important antioxidant and anti-caner agent in the body. The production of glutathione requires the presence of amino acids such as cysteine, glutamic acid and glycine. Nutrients that increase glutathione levels include vitamin C, alpha-lipoic acid and the amino acids glutamine and methionine.

Fourth Detoxification Pathway, Acetylation- In this detoxification pathway, acetyl co-A is attached to toxins to make the less harmful and easy to excrete. In order for this pathway to work at its optimal level, vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid) and vitamin C are needed.

Fifth Detoxification Pathway, Amino Acid Conjugation- The conjugation of toxins with amino acids occurs in this detoxification pathway. The amino acids commonly used in this pathway include glycine, taurine and glutamine. These amino acids help to excrete many toxic chemicals (know as xenobiotics) from the body. Amino acids are found in protein-rich foods if they are eaten in adequate amounts.

Sixth Detoxification Pathway, Methylation- Involves conjugating methyl groups to toxins. This detoxification pathway is used to detoxify many steroid hormones, including estrogen. The principal amino acid methionine drives this detoxification pathway. Methylation also requires the cofactors vitamin B12, folic acid and choline to function properly.

When Detoxification Pathways Do Not Function Properly

When either or both of these detoxification pathways are not functioning properly, toxins pass through the liver unaffected and move into our blood circulation where they are deposited and become imbedded in various tissues and organ systems of our body. The accumulation of toxic compounds can lead to negative symptoms including:

Digestive system disturbances
Constipation, Bloating, Diarrhea, Nausea and Heartburn
Excessive weight gain
Excessive weight loss
Allergies (including food sensitivities)
Skin disorders
Chronic Fatigue
Anger, Depression and Irritability
Hormonal changes
Hormonal imbalances
Decreased energy levels
Mood swings
High cholesterol
Dark Circles under Eyes
Blood Sugar Imbalances
Post Menopausal Syndrome (PMS)
Asthma and difficulty breathing
Frequent Flus, colds, sinus infections
Muscle and Joint Pain, Fibromyalgia
Restless Sleep and Insomnia
Chemical Sensitivities

If you identify with many of the signs listed above, a portion of your impaired health may be due to inadequate clearance of toxic chemical compounds within the liver and gastrointestinal systems. Our line of natural detoxification products including Core Support Powder and the Core Restore BT Detoxification Program, through its dynamic supplement formulations and easy to understand guidelines for lifestyle modification, will show you how easy it is to reduce and eliminate most of the burden these unwanted toxins cause and how you can regain the optimal health you deserve.

Why Everyone Needs a Dynamic and Comprehensive Detoxification Program:

1.)To Feel Healthy and Energized- When detoxification and elimination systems of the body are not working at their optimal level, they are unable to handle the incoming load of toxins and negative symptoms begin as the toxic levels build up in your cells, tissues and organs. Even after day-to-day external exposures are removed, toxins remain in our body until they are cleared out by means of detoxification. An example of this is if we live near a factory and then decide later on to move to a less polluted town without any industrial developments. Although we have stopped receiving the external exposure of factory pollutants, the toxins we were exposed to from the previous factory will still remain in our body.

Knowing this, imagine the build-up of all the toxins from our environment, lifestyle and daily stresses that have been stored in our bodies since we were a child. Despite this, there is something you can do about reducing your toxic burden. By completing our Core Restore BT Detoxification Program, you can shield yourself from the further accumulation of destructive toxins entering into your body. You will also see a gradual improvement in your symptoms as the stored toxins are released and eliminated through newly efficient detoxification pathways.

2.)To Maintain Optimal Health and Wellness- Just as your car needs periodic oil and filter changes, our bodies need periodic detoxification to clean out all toxins and contaminants that have accumulated in our system over the years. If you feel progressively sluggish, fatigued, achy and run-down, perhaps it is time for your "filter to be cleaned" so that you can attain a feeling of wellness and regain optimal health. Even if you believe you feel fine, consider the Core Support Powder or the complete Core Restore BT Detoxification Program at least once a year for continued good health.

Mild stomach upset or allergic reaction may occur with any herbal product. Move dose closer to meals or cease product use if symptoms persist. If you are nursing or pregnant, DO NOT undergo detoxification of any kind. This can be harmful to the baby. Detoxification reaction may occur. Sensitive individuals should use caution.
