The Enzymes in Our Digestive Support Supplement:

•Pancreatin 8X USP, for Proper Digestion
Pancreatin is composed of three different enzymes which include amylase, lipase and protease. Pancreatin is used to help those with low enzyme activity or those wanting further digestive support. Amylases break down starches, lipases breakdown lipids, and proteases breakdown proteins. Labeling the mg amount of Pancreatin in a product only tells part of the story, and can be misleading when the most important component is the activity of the enzymes. Ortho Digestzyme is formulated with a standardized 8x form of Pancreatin providing high potency, high-activity enzymes for improved compliance.

•Betaine HCL USP, for Healthy Digestion
Betaine hydrochloride is an acidic form of Betaine. It is used to help bring the stomach to a more acidic pH to aid in digestion. If the stomach's acidity is insufficient, then often times foods will not be properly broken down.

•Pepsin 1:3,000 for Digestive Aid
Pepsin was first discovered in 1836 by the German zoologist Theodor Schwann. Pepsin is a protease secreted in the stomach by the chief cells and degrades food proteins into peptides. Pepsin has the highest enzymatic activity between the pH of 1.8 to 3.5.

•Ox Bile Extract for Proper Digestion
A quality bile extract is an important factor for proper digestion. Bile is excreted by the liver and stored in the gallbladder. Bile mixes with enzymes and aids in the digestion of fats.

•Bromelain 120 GDU/capsule. Papain 6,000 USP units/mg
Bromelain is an enzyme extracted from pineapple plants and Papain is an enzyme derived from papya. These two flavonoids aid in the digestion of various types of proteins.
